There are certain things you come across and aren’t quite sure whether to look at or walk past. Things half undone. Recently discarded or already absorbed into the background. They don’t ask for attention. They’re not competing. They don’t seem to want anything at all. And yet, they’re there.

Sometimes alone, sometimes gathered with others that aren’t offering much either. I started noticing them without meaning to, the kind of looking you do when you’re not really looking. Then I couldn’t help it. I began to wonder if there was something worth paying attention to—not value in the usual sense, but the kind that simply asks you to pause, for just a second.

This project came out of that pause. From looking at what’s left behind.
From finding something that, without trying, feels a little too close to everything else.
